Nvidia is the biggest AI company in the world by stock market value, worth about $5.24 trillion at the close on 19 October 2026. Anthropic leads the private side, with a reported $965 billion valuation from its May 2026 funding round. Those are two different measures, so this article keeps them in two separate lists.
Key takeaways
- Nvidia tops the listed ranking with a stock market value of about $5.24 trillion on 19 October 2026, ahead of Alphabet at $4.21 trillion.
- Anthropic leads the private ranking with a $965 billion valuation, set when it raised $65 billion in May 2026.
- Stock market value moves every trading day. A private valuation is agreed at a funding round and can sit unchanged for months.
- Chip makers and cloud groups fill the top of the listed list because AI runs on their hardware and their computing capacity, not only on chatbots.
- Several of the fastest-growing AI names, including OpenAI and Databricks, are not on any stock market, so they only appear in the second list.
How this ranking works
A company counts as an AI company here when AI products, models, data tools, chips or computing capacity make up a large part of its business. That brings in chip designers, chip factories, cloud providers, model makers and data platforms.
Listed companies are ranked by stock market value at the close on 19 October 2026, all from the same data source so the order holds together. Private companies are ranked by their latest completed and publicly reported funding valuation, with the date of that round shown.
Two exclusions are worth naming. Apple was worth about $5.00 trillion on 19 October 2026, but it sells devices rather than AI infrastructure. SpaceX remains a space company after it acquired xAI in February 2026. Both stay out.

Read the "measure" column before you compare any two rows. A $965 billion funding valuation and a $965 billion stock market value would not mean the same thing.

The seven biggest listed AI companies by stock market value
Stock market value is the total value of a company's shares at a given moment. All seven figures below are from the close on 19 October 2026.
1. Nvidia - $5.24 trillion
Nvidia designs widely used AI chips and data-centre systems. It also sells the full data-centre systems around them. Revenue for the quarter ended 26 July 2026 was $96.2 billion, up 106% on a year earlier. It is the clear number one on this measure. On 27 August 2026, Reuters reported that Nvidia had agreed to acquire Hugging Face for $12.9 billion, although the deal was not confirmed as closed.
2. Alphabet - $4.21 trillion
Google's parent company makes the Gemini AI models and its own chips. Google Cloud rents AI computing capacity to businesses. Google says its eighth-generation chips can train AI models and run them day to day.
3. Microsoft - $3.96 trillion
Microsoft sells AI through Azure, its cloud business, and its office software. Revenue in its fiscal fourth quarter of 2026 was $90.0 billion. Azure passed $100 billion for the full fiscal year. The company reported more than 30 million paid Microsoft 365 Copilot seats. In February 2026 Microsoft and OpenAI said their partnership continues.
4. Amazon - $2.83 trillion
AWS rents AI computing capacity to businesses. Its revenue reached $42.2 billion in the second quarter of 2026. Amazon said both its AI business and its chip business passed a $25 billion annual revenue rate. It also announced an investment of up to $50 billion in OpenAI.
5. TSMC - $1.93 trillion
TSMC makes the advanced chips that Nvidia, Broadcom and others design. Revenue in the third quarter of 2026 was $46.72 billion, with high-performance computing at 68% of the total.
6. Meta - $1.80 trillion
Meta uses AI in its products and advertising and develops AI models and infrastructure. Second-quarter 2026 revenue was $60.8 billion. In June, 3.60 billion people used its apps daily. Its 2026 spending plan for data centres and equipment was $130 billion to $145 billion.
7. Broadcom - $1.60 trillion
Broadcom builds custom AI chips for the big cloud companies, plus the networking gear that ties data centres together. In its fiscal third quarter of 2026, revenue was $29.6 billion and AI semiconductor revenue was $16.7 billion.
The six biggest private AI companies by funding valuation
Different measure, separate list. Each figure below is the valuation agreed at the company's last completed funding round.
1. Anthropic - $965 billion
Anthropic makes the Claude models, sold mainly to businesses and developers. It raised $65 billion in a Series H round on 28 May 2026 at a $965 billion valuation. It said revenue, measured at its current yearly pace, had passed $47 billion earlier that month. On 15 October 2026, Reuters reported that investors were discussing a roughly $1.5 trillion valuation for Anthropic's planned November IPO.
2. OpenAI - $852 billion
The maker of ChatGPT. Its latest completed round, in March 2026, valued it at $852 billion. In February 2026 OpenAI said ChatGPT had more than 900 million weekly users and over 50 million paying consumer subscribers. On 19 October 2026, Reuters reported that OpenAI was seeking about $30 billion in funding at a valuation above $1.4 trillion.
3. Databricks - $190 billion
Databricks sells the platform companies use to organise their own data and build AI on top of it. It closed a $5 billion round at a $190 billion valuation in August 2026. It reported revenue at a yearly pace of $7 billion. Growth was above 80% year on year. It had more than 20,000 customers.
4. Waymo - $126 billion
Waymo runs driverless taxis, which is AI applied to the physical world. It raised $16 billion in February 2026 at a $126 billion valuation. Around that time it reported roughly 400,000 paid rides a week across six cities, with a stated goal of one million weekly rides during 2026.
5. Cognition - $48 billion
Cognition builds AI tools that write and fix software, including its Devin assistant. Reuters reported a $2 billion Series E on 8 September 2026 at a $48 billion valuation.
6. Figure AI - $39 billion
Figure AI makes humanoid robots and the AI that controls them. Its Series C in September 2025 valued it at $39 billion. Europe's largest lab, Mistral AI in France, sits just outside this top six: it raised €3 billion in September 2026 at above €21 billion, about $24 billion.
Why the two measures are not interchangeable
A listed company's value is set by buyers and sellers during trading hours. A private company's valuation is agreed once, when investors put money in, and then stays put until the next round.
| Company type | Measure | How often it moves | What it does not tell you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Listed | Stock market value | Every trading day | How much of the business is really AI |
| Private | Funding valuation | Only at a new round | What ordinary investors could pay or receive |
Who is number one in 2026
Being the biggest also says nothing about which tool suits your business. A €15 model subscription can beat a trillion-dollar platform for your actual work.
Frequently asked questions
What is an AI accelerator?
An AI accelerator is a chip designed for the large calculations used to train and run AI models. Nvidia is best known for these chips. Data centres use many of them together.
Is market capitalisation the same as a company valuation?
No. Market capitalisation is the live total value of a listed company's shares, recalculated as the price moves. A private valuation is a number agreed between a company and its investors during a funding round. It can remain unchanged for a long time. Both describe size, neither is the same kind of price.
Which is the biggest European AI company?
TSMC is Asian and the other six listed names are American, so Europe's strongest AI-linked listed companies sit outside this top seven. On the private side, Mistral AI in France is the largest European lab, valued above €21 billion in September 2026, about $24 billion. Its finance chief told Reuters it was on track for $1 billion in yearly recurring revenue by the end of 2026, with more than 125 customers.
Why is a defence company like Anduril not in the list?
Anduril builds AI-enabled defence hardware rather than AI as its core product, so it falls outside the definition used here. For context, Reuters reported a completed round in May 2026 at a $61 billion valuation, and CNBC reported an employee share sale in October 2026 valuing it at $90 billion. A share sale between employees and investors is not a funding round.
